Into Thy Narrow Bed

A new feature film in development by actor John Malloy, line producer Drew Clarke, and a very talented cast and crew, Into Thy Narrow Bed is a screenplay adaptation of the Jack D. Farris stage play. Hardcover and paperback editions of a few Jack Farris works can be found at http://www.amazon.com. This has been a fascinating project for us, and it has come together well. . . beyond our expectations in fact. The film had its premiere in Memphis on April 28, 2002 at the McCoy Theatre on the campus of Rhodes College. And in spite of a little glitch in the middle of the DV tape (which required a few minutes of unrehearsed intermission!), the event went very well and was great fun for our cast and crew. Thanks to all of you who made it out to see the screening - your support means very much to us. We currently have an excellent working version of the film in the form of a 29-minute narrative drama, and we will be using this pilot to acquire funding to film the whole script. The final feature will run about 100 minutes. We also enjoyed screenings of this pilot version at the 2002 Indie Memphis Film Festival on October 5, 2002 and the First Annual Media Co-op Film Festival in August.
![]() Tom Butler of UPN-30 interviews John Malloy A promotional packet which includes a VHS copy of the film and news report, a treatment of the screenplay, and an outline of our projected budget and investment syllabus is available upon request. Please understand that promotional materials will only be distributed to people with a serious interest in investing their time and/or money in entertainment projects. Our cast and crew have already devoted much time and effort in the production of this pilot, and we will expect new partners in the project to show an equal sense of commitment. Send e-mail to Jeff if this prospect interests you, and we'll have lunch! Our story centers around Matthew Chaney, sheriff of a prosperous Tennessee county, and his family. The setting is late 1930's. Tucker Williams, a sharecropper working on property owned by the county's wealthiest landowner, is shot and killed. When Chaney gets the news from landowner Ralph Norman, he sets to work right away investigating. As the investigation develops, the Sheriff's devoted wife, Ellie, becomes frustrated with his long spells away from home. Matthew's young son, Peter, (always in awe of his father) just wants to be with dad during every moment as the murder's mystery unravels. Matthew's eldest son, Elmo becomes progressively detached emotionally from the whole incident and from his family as well. Elmo's wife, Holly Mae, wants this investigation to end soon and peace restored, but what she needs more than anything is to reclaim the love and adoration of Elmo. Before too long, Chaney finds clues pointing at Elmo. The relentless protector may have to make a choice between his love for his son and his commitment to his job. How he finds the strength to understand and resolve this dilemma may be the greatest mystery of all. Keep in touch as the saga develops. . . . |
